Email Encryption. May 4, 2010

Filed under: Useful info — iriscreado @ 4:29 pm

Keeping sensitive information  safe from prying eyes is a running concern. There is information you need to share only with trustable people because of how it relates to projects you are working on, or because it is deeply connected with personal matters.

What could you do to keep your data safe? One of the best alternatives you have to consider is encrypting your text messages. Select a password and share it with the receiver of the email along with the link of the encryption. The password also has an expiration date ranging from 3 minutes to never.

Instead of a screen shot, I have an encryption for you guys so you can check it out for yourself.

North East West South – NEWS !! :D April 27, 2010

Filed under: Useful info — iriscreado @ 4:02 pm

Newsmap.jp is an interesting way for presenting news. It actually makes me wanna read it  and not just skipping to the comic section.

This site has a collage of news articles. Colour coded by the topic. Passing you mouse over any block gives you a jist of what the article is about. Below is a very old snap shot I took of  the  page, so the news may seem really outdated. The page can even be customized as per your interests. Interesting stuff!!

Guaranteed cure for a bad day ! March 10, 2010

Filed under: Fun Stuff — iriscreado @ 4:42 pm

So I am having a particularly bad day week. One of those days where you think to yourself, “hmmmm so this is really bad, I bet it can’t get any worse” and then life thinks to itself,  “Ohhh yea about tht……….  I don’t think so”.

**sigh** So anyways, here I am at home browsing through “happy” stuff to make myself feel .. well ….. happy (bet you didn’t see that coming did ya) . And I chanced upon this site. I have barely scanned through the top 30%  of the site and am already feeling so much better. So here’s the low down . It basically lets people write (in short) about the bad day they had, and c’mon what better way to feel better about your bad day than to hear about someone having a terrible day. :) And No!! I don’t take pleasure in other people’s misfortune so don’t you go about judging me. But you have to admit, fmylife.com is pretty darn funny.

Dunno what  FML is?  Google it.  This is a family blog.

Email sharing on Twitter and Facebook March 2, 2010

Filed under: Useful info — iriscreado @ 4:41 pm

Moomeo.com is based on a simple yet powerful idea, that is, sharing emails with your friends on Twitter, Facebook or just about anyone anywhere for that matter. See an interesting email that you want to share with your buddies? All you gotta do is shoot them email at post@moomeo.com and you would instantly receive a link back to the email. You can then post/tweet/share/scrap (and all the other kinds of social networking jargon out there) that link with whoever you wish to.  Best thing is that you don’t need to sign up or register for this service.See i told you,  ‘simple yet powerful’.

moomeo

Tip: Moomeo does have a clear disclosure policy, which means that your identity can be revealed if you use an email that is tied to your name, or a well known online identity associated with you. So rule of thumb, if you are going to send a potential explosive email, it’s best to do it from an email that cannot be traced back to you.

Awkward Family Photos February 24, 2010

Filed under: Fun Stuff — iriscreado @ 4:49 pm

Aahh family get together’s!!  Brings back treasured and fond memories of fun and frolic. Fast forward to a few years later, in yet another family get together, Uncle Joe and Aunt Mary decide to dig out photos of the years gone by and relive their days of glory as they proudly show them off to their kin.A picture of a family sitting together in a living room and reminiscing comes to ones mind. But for the families in the photos below, its sheer embarrassment and horror that follows. Don’t believe me?? look for yourself. :D

Akward Family Photos is where its at!!

PS: I love reading the witty headings and the one-liners below the photos. Its more fun that way.

Free stuff Free stuff … February 20, 2010

Filed under: Fun Stuff — iriscreado @ 4:41 pm

Everyone loves free stuff…. (even if we don’t really need it). Giveawayoftheday.com does just that. The concept behind this site is simple and ingenious. They offer  free licensed software you’d have to buy otherwise! Everyday a software title is nominated that will be a ‘Giveaway’ title of that day. The software will be available for download for 24 hours (or more, if agreed by software publisher) and that software will be absolutely free. That means – not a trial, not a limited version – but a registered and legal version of the software.

Another site that operates along the same lines is game.giveawayoftheday.com. You will find this link in the site above. Here you will find really cool games. Not the usual kind of games you see elsewhere, but interesting stuff.

For all you goldfishes out there ! February 16, 2010

Filed under: Useful info — iriscreado @ 4:06 pm

So i have quiet a reputation of being a goldfish. And it has nothing to do with their exotic appearance. Rather its because of the association goldfish have to  terribly short term memory.  The fact that this association has absolutely no basis in reality and is a myth is a different story all together.Anyhooo , the other day in the course of my random surfing, I came across this site which can literally be called  a memory bank of sorts. Evernote.com is one of the most well-known organizational programs on the internet .  You can take notes, save photos, maintain files, save tweets, plan vacations etc. It can also be downloaded as an application for your iphone.  Check out this link for a detailed review of this site, along with how you can benefit from its various features.

Another site that offers something similar is Lessmemories.com. However, between the two, Evernote gets my vote.

If you are into photography /  planning on buying a new camera / in a dilemma as to which camera is meant for you and can’t make a decision, your gonna love Snapsort.com.  I consider myself an amateur when it comes to photography and I am not that well versed with the various jargon’s associated with it, but  I found this site had plenty of useful information and its really easy to navigate through.

On comparing different camera models, you get differences, similarities, pros, cons, specifications and so much more. Check it out and I dare you to tell me you didn’t find it useful.
